i was listening to mike and mike on espn radio this morning when they discussed rose. they gave some very valid reasons why rose did NOT belong back in mgmt with a team, or in the HOF. i have a hard time believing he bet EVERY game--but then, i can't believe so many people are amazed that he admitted betting on his team-i always thought it had been established.
he broke the rules of baseball, i don't care how many hits he got, he tarnished his own image-no one did it for him. he should not have bet, certainly should not have bet on his own team. he has to say he bet them EVERY time. but after years of denying so much of what he now admits to, how the heck knows what to believe from him. the hall of fame is still just that without him in it. i don't think baseball will feel the lack if he never gets in.

Steve B should try to get Rose on their gambling NCAA segment and get his input and picks

i heard some of the dan patrick interview live....i really don't think he surprised anyone with his comments. the surprise came that he did it live on espn radio.
he belongs in the HOF for his PLAY ON the field ! he should in NO WAY be allowed back into baseball ! i am no longer a baseball fan. i never came back after the last strike. pete rose is a great player from my youth and i had to suffer as "the big red machine" knock my pirates from the playoffs year after year. PR belongs in the HOF ! he belongs in before MOST of the other guys on that team.

Rose belongs in HOF for his playing days! He should be and IS banned from Baseball for gambling on games. Other than that, he is a sad, non-story man whose life was on self destruct. No Mas, No Mas!

I have the same opinion now that I did when the issue first came up ... he should be in the HOF for his play on the field but should not be allowed back in the game.

thing is, he was still IN baseball when he gambled, it wasn't on the side--people bring up babe ruth and his drinking, or roger maris--but that wasn't in any way, shape or form a part of their baseball career. that was an issue in their private lives. this is not. he bet on the game while still a part of the game. he broke the rules, and agreed to a lifetime ban. of course that no longer seems to mean anything-honesty, integrity, giving your word and meaning it. so now he wants to go back on all that--maybe he can go into rehab, that seems to be the order of the day now--then they'll let him in for sure.

He's a complete dirtball, at one time I thought he should be in the HOF, but for the way he lies, they should keep him out.
I am from the same part of town as him, his son went to my HS, and growing up I would see Pete all of the time watching his son play, as a kid in Cincinnati you were taught to worship him and I did, but enough is enough, he needs to go away and shut up, maybe after he's gone for about 20 years he should get in. It's all his fault and he's a dirtbag and habitual liar.... |
