Zada Belle, this filly, and Rags to Riches are by far the best three filies that I have seen this year.

On another note...poor Chocolate Lava. This horse can't break her maiden because she keeps running against Grade I caliber horses. In her first start, she had a horrendous trip to finish...I believe it was fifth. Then she runs second to Silver Swallow in her next start who just ran second to Rags to Riches Sunday. Then she runs against this monstrous filly in her next maiden race to finish second again. Sheesh...talk about a tough break.

I thought it was impressive that Chocolate Lava held on for second through the fast early pace.

Estimated fractions for Magnificience:
23.27
22.16
23.73
6.46

Falling behind early may have been the best thing to happen to her and the race may be getting slightly overrated cause it was so visually appealing. To run the 3rd and 4th furlongs in 22.16 and comeback in sub-24 is pretty impressive though.

Its entirely possible that getting left helped and that it was slightly overrated. But you cannot deny that the way she was striding out so powerfully in the stretch with her head up and ears back was simply awesome. Also that middle quarter is worth noting!!

It was definitely very impressive. I'll be interested in seeing her next race out and seeing if she stretches out or is going to be a deep closing sprinter.

This is a good point. Chocolate Lava on a normal day would have one of the most obvious short priced maiden winners that you can find. She has as you pointed out ran into some really unfortunate circumstances but in her own right has looked really nice.
