The worst by far has to be Martin Escobar, he is god awful...after him has to be Mike Smith.

I have never seen a jockey put other riders in as much danger as Miss Chantal Sutherland....Wow, shes ceases to amaze me with some of the rides that she gives..If i notice it, how dont these trainers, that opt to put her on their charges...

The worst jockey ever is....................1982 Eclipse Award Winning Apprentice Jockey Alberto Delgado, but I am biased. He screwed us once when he was our jockey at a time much later in his life. I think he averages about 100 mounts a year. I think he was struggling to pay his rent. He shouldn't be screwing anyone he works for....PERIOD. That midget, who by the way is bigger than the trainer we had at the time, rode the first two races at Laurel then left before our race.

He only informed the trainer in the Paddock before the first race. The trainer was so pissed he didn't have words. Apparently he had committed to another evening mount at Penn National???? He was our regular exercise jockey in MD and I had personally spoken to him every morning about the upcoming race. He failed to mention the Penn thing on any of the mornings he spoke to me or the trainer. So while the second is being run the trainer informed us of the jockey's new priorities.

The trainer said to "give him an ear full" when he got off his mount after the second. My partners and I gave it to him from the moment he got off the horse, until he was in the jocks room. Needless to say, he neither exercised our horses or rode them ever again.

Therefore, I have sour grapes and he is the worst jockey of all time.

When your name is involved in a positive handicapping angle, that should be big clue.
"Mike Smith off" enough said!

I am not a big fan of Santos and Bravo either.

Don't think there is enough bandwidth here to fit my list. Since I play Tampa every day, I can start there with my bottom five in no particular order:

Liz Cedeno
Craig Faine
Walter Llagas
Roger Moore
Tom Foley

I could go on and on...

Any of those five could wear the crown of worst ever.

I hate Joe Bravo, can't win with him or against..Wish he'd retire and join Pat waitallDay....

Wasn't it Filberto Leon who was involved in and/or caused the bad spill that busted up Julie Krone at Saratoga several years back??

i hate to kick a guy when he is down, but i always thought that i would read this in the newspaper some day:

"There was a tragic accident at Aqueduct last night as jockey Jose Santos actually strangled a horse to death along the backstretch. Asked to comment, Santos said his horse was rank and that the animal didn't seem to understand that :49.4 for a half was way too fast of a pace for this 6 furlong race."

Classic Chantel is when she was on a rabbit for Flower Alley (Bishop Court Hill?) and pulled the bit clear to the horses butt while having a yelling match with Johnny V.

I've heard some owners call Jose "The Strangler"

I think he's cleaning stalls now but when he was riding Ramiro Torres was absolutely the worst rider on the planet. He's cisco's brother.

Also Rafael Estrella was horrendous.

I'm not sure he belongs on this list-

But in regularly playing Tampa this winter, I have something going for me called the "Cotto curse". That dude is winning at a decent percentage, but every horse he rides that I bet come s in last in a trouble'd ride. Where's my boy Derek Bell when I need him lol?
