There were a bunch of horses running drills, it's not like Tagg braved the track condition and did something nobody else would consider.

I think it's absoutely a non-issue. If NoBiz doesn't get the work in, all of a sudden he is forced to take a different path to the Derby. Can't say I blame a trainer for sticking to plan 'A'.

...and Barclay Tagg was on the map long before Funny Cide. Are you saying that a trainer is only 'on the map' if he wins a Derby? Now THAT is ridiculous.

On the one hand, one might think it would make more sense to make a $10,000 claimer the guinea pig.

But what makes a $10,000 claimer's health any less important? (if Tagg has any of them). He had to put someone out there to start the morning out.

Anyways.....what exactly is so good about retirement for a gelding? He stands in a grassy area next to the fence and picks flies for the rest of his life? I know animals aren't smart but....it can't be exciting. He can hold off on that for one more year at least.
