The 2007 Road to the Roses Contest allows leagues ti be set up is anyone interested in forming a league for DTers?
See the excerpt from the Q & A? Maybe we could even have a tie in with ATRAB and they could give away hats or shirts or something. Just a thought. Q: Tell me more about the League feature that was added for 2006? A: One of the two new highlights of the game (along with weekly prizes), the League creation adds an exciting element to the game no matter where you rank in the overall standings. During the signup process, every player will have the option to create their own league in which they can compete against friends, co-workers, etc. Basically, you will be able to invite as many people as you want to join your league by simply inputting their email addresses in the appropriate box. Once they accept, all the people in your league can track their rankings within your league each time they log in to the game. This is a great new addition to the game; even if you find yourself far out of first place overall, you still could be doing much better than everyone in your league, earning bragging rights over your co-workers, family, or friends. |

Make sure you are using a link for the 133rd Derby (2005 links lead to 2005 horses.)

If this year goes as consistent as the past, half of my stable will get injured very early. And yes it is not a handicapping contest. But a lot of those handicapping contests are stupid also. You try to pick a few long shot winners and hope all the favorites lose in many of the setups. I dont see any use in handicapping against other handicappers, I see it much more valuable as taking horses based on the likelyhood of winning v. the reward as decided by the public, and thats not an integral part of many handicapping contests. |

It's a stupid contest really -- doesn't reward handicapping skills at all. The winner gets you the same points whether he's 50-1 or 2-1. And you're stuck with the original horses plus a few add-ons. Last year I had the same 5 horses activated from late March to the Derby -- all my others were injured and I think one or two were even dead by Derby.
It's a management issue too. The activation feature is bizarre. You have to pay attention to it and "activate" 5 horses and deactivate others before each weekend. You can have a horse in your stable win and if you forgot to activate the horse you don't get any points. With all the other things going on this time of year who wants to worry about things like this? Last edited by todko : 02-18-2007 at 10:30 AM. |

Yeah, it's not a handicapping skills contest, but where else can you get tickets -- and a nice lift -- to the Derby?
