That's a hilarious story. And it makes me feel better about living in a rental, where I'm supposed to call the super to come fix things. How do you turn off the water pressure, anyway?

down below your sink you should see 2 handles, follow the hoses and they should go to the faucets. one is for hot, other cold. should just pull out and push in.
