The fish was disgusting, everything was terrible, even the salad. The biscuits are the only redeeming quality about the place.
It was about 1% as good as I remembered it. I'll never go there again, especially when there's a Real Seafood Co. in Ann Arbor.
There we go agreeing on something else!

I love those damn cheese biscuits... everything else is food poisoning quality. LOL

those and popeyes biscuits. mmmmm

but yeah, i don't like chain restaurants for the most part. BUT i will make an exception for pappa deaux's. excellent food!!

i am very picky about seafood--grew up right by the chesapeake bay, so i know what fresh seafood tastes like.

around here--farm raised catfish--very, very good. little out of the way place we go to once in a while, good stuff. but there's a place right here people go to and rave about--it STINKS. but it's all they ever go to, so nothing to compare to i guess....

Ugh, I didn't know good seafood until I moved to Portland, OR. Being an hour from the coast has its advantages. Then I came back to the Midwest, and everything here completely sucks, or it's widly overpriced if it's anything near fresh.

It's so hard to get a decent piece of fish around here.

Not around here... we'll find a great place to eat at on Saturday or Sunday. Florida has some great seafood places.

I was just going to PM you and see if you'd be up for going out for seafood while we're down there, as I'd imagine it's got to be better than it is here!

I don't like a lot of types of fish -- mostly stick with tilapia or halibut when I can afford it. Thank goodness for Whole Foods around here, even though it costs an arm and a leg!

Kev- your post made me laugh out loud- don't worry; I haven't eaten at a Red Lobster since I can't remember when. Though the one in Times Square is always packed, proving once again there's no accounting for taste. But. like Brian's experience, as a kid that was where we went for a "nice" dinner, too. And I hated it. They would bring the popcorn shrimp (all I'd eat) right away, I'd eat it and then have to sit for what seemed like forever while the grownups waited for their food.

But if I did eat there, I'd be fine with screaming kids.

I like catfish, and I also like tilapia- we served tilapia at our wedding because it's an environmentally sound fish to eat- they mature fast, are plentiful, and because they're harvested so young they don't have time to accumulate mercury. Good for the planet and for people both!

Mmm... Whole Foods. I just went there for the salad bar for lunch. It is expensive, but I'm such a fussy eater it's worth it to me.

I can't afford to shop there on a regular basis, but certain things are a must from there -- ie their fish and meats.

Their deli case is simply awesome too -- all the prepared stuff they have. I wish their chicken noodle soup wasn't like $6 for a quart, then I could afford it.

OMG Brian... please don't make me comment.

So, I've got a book of Zagat's best rated restaurants in South Florida. I'm sure we'll find some good seafood places. I don't really care for seafood, but I'll eat the mild fish like tilapia, mahi etc. Can't stand anything else... yuck.
