That was a very close finish - lucked out the win only by having the third place finisher in the final race to sneak by a determined Ruffian. Sorry Ruff, next time it could just as easily go the other way.
If anyone cares to begin preparing for Saturday, I'm confident that we will be heading to Kentucky Downs for a card that has some very lucrative stakes races on a very quirky course. I'm equally confident that we will be playing all of the stakes races but less than the full card. Based on a quick count, I think that the full card has 173 horses entered, and that's just a bit too much analysis required for anyone who is seriously handicapping this card. I'll post the contest card by late tomorrow. |

Check the weather. Kentucky Downs could have rain. Colonial Downs will have good races if there is rain in Kentucky. I've got tickets there this weekend. ![]() |

They can't take the races off of the turf. I suspect that it would take a lot of rain to cause a cancellation on their biggest race day of the year.
