Day 16

Best Bet: Race 7- #7 Alwayz Late
I flirted with putting the Klaravich firster in race 2 here, because I watched her work last week where she held her own against an older filly from Chad's barn, but ultimately chose against it. Alwayz Late had no shot last time behind a crawling pace and also got a less than enthusiastic ride by Jose Ortiz through the lane. Gets much more speed to run at, Moot barn won a couple yesterday and she should be up in time today.

Longshot: Race 6- #1 Who Me
He was off slow in his debut and then made a prolonged run around the turn to get within a few of the lead and tired after that. Adds lasix and more importantly stretches out. Should have gotten a lot out of the debut and Rosario ends up here instead of the Clement firster. Dam side is all turf and long on the turf. Dam was unraced but is a half to a few very nice turf runners and her dam was a 10 time turf winner and earned over 700k on grass going long. 10-1 ML more than fair

Who Me showed speed from the inside but tired badly. Not much there. Alwayz Late an unlucky loser, paying $5.40 to place

Day 17

Best bet: Race 5- #5 Rheaume
Just missed last time, I'm against the probable favorite Shad Nation who I don't think is very good. This one has been brought along nice and easy by Dickinson and showed last time she can go long. Figures to sit a nice trip tactically and I just feel she's better than these.

Longshot: Race 4- #7 Gandy Dancing
Loves this track, although that was in the Chad Brown barn. I think he fits here though and again, hard to ignore record at the track. Drawn well and should sit in catbird seat and connections ensure large price. Want to take a shot in this race and this one seems as logical as any

I think the bettors saw the same thing you were seeing on Gandy Dancing...nice pick

Thanks….7/2 was crazy low though. I’m never usually in on a “they knew” kind of horse

As entertaining as some of it is I’m not interested in getting bogged down in some of the debates but will say great capping so far this meet. Hope you can keep it rolling. Curious if you have a take on the Whitney tomorrow? I think there have been a couple times people have talked themselves into “what would a couple hopeless longshots add to this field?” this year but I think in this case it couldn’t be more true…I haven’t made up my mind yet but what a fantastic showdown….

Thanks man.

I don’t have a strong opinion but will be betting a few bucks on Happy Saver. He’s always had a lot of talent and while he kind of sucked up 2nd last time, he still ran. He needs a lot to happen for him to win but if Life Is Good goes too fast and Olympiad engages him too soon maybe it sets up for a wacky result. I’m not sure what to do with Hot Rod Charlie.

Apparently I wasn't the only one who saw some things to like in Gandy Dancing as he romped and was bet down to 7/2 from his 10-1 ML, paying $9.60 and $4.90. Rheaume ran well and lost the photo paying $3.80 to place

Day 18

Best bet: Race 11- #4 Nations Pride
I thought he took the worst of it last time, moving up steadily in the backstretch and then lost position around the turn when he was kept behind the tiring runner who made the silly middle move. Found himself a little behind Stone Age around the turn (who had a much cleaner trip and saved all the ground) and actually outfinished that one. No free rides for Classic Causeway today and Nations Pride gets Appleby's go to rider for this.

Longshot: Race 3- #6 Impazible Donna
Think this race has the chance to fall apart and this filly has run well here in the past. Levine barn waking up a bit and when Flying P starts winning races, they tend to win them in bunches. Should be 4th or 5th choice in here and seems to be working up a storm.

Almost went with Nations Pride as well. Probably a good thing for you that I didn’t. Good luck.

Nations Pride got the job done paying $6.20 and $3.40. Impazible Donna was closer to the pace than I thought she'd be and ran a so-so 3rd.

Day 19

Best bet: Race 7- #3 With the Moonlight
Small but really strong field. I think this filly holds a distinct pace advantage here and am hoping for a Buick/Appleby sweep this weekend. Nations Pride ran a much improved race second time here and I'm hoping for the same here.

Longshot: Race 9- #2 Nazuna
Bit of a stab here, but I think she's improving for Chad Brown. Will be lost on the board and if she can take another step forward, is not that far off some of these. I think she will be in a good spot behind the speed and will get first run on the closers. Anytime you can get over 10-1 on Prat/Chad Brown, not a bad idea to take it.
