Yeah, my issue is with him and not Bama... Saban is a liar.

Either way, he'll be a nice fit for the Bama program and they'll definitely be better off than they were. Congrats to the Tide fans on landing a good coach... God knows you guys are paying him enough!

My issue with this whole story is, who cares? I mean you would think Joe Torre is interviewing to manage the Red Sox or something.

Who the heck is Nick Saban and who cares who coaches the Dolphins? They are a terrible team in a place where fans care more about percentage of body fat than what their team's records are. Sorry, thats just how I feel.

it's somewhat newsworthy i suppose because he just got the biggest $ contract any ncaa coach received and people in Florida are far bigger football fans than baseball or basketball.

do people really care who manages the yankees any more?

As a Yankee hater and somebody who lives in NY (not the city but still NY)....yes they do! Baseball rules in this state. Its all about the Yankee - Red Sox here. I love the rivalry but I follow just about every team very closely and watch about 7-10 games per week.

fair enough. People here (in general, but not me) could care less about baseball. Marlins win 2 WS in 10 years and they get 2,000 people some nights. No wonder they can't get a stadium built.

It'll take a couple of seasons, IMO...

Saban's record at LSU:

2000: 8-4
2001: 10-3
2002: 8-5
2003: 13-1 (National Champs)
2004: 9-3

Football is huge down here, but there are far more college football fans than NFL fans. I don't care as much about the Dolphins as I do about Saban going back to coach another SEC team.

well, maybe he wasn't lying a couple weeks ago. then the money went up $10 million.

It's more of a crapshoot in CFB now than it was 10 years ago with the scholarship restrictions. 10 years ago Boise St would never have won a Jan 1 bowl game. You need to be very lucky to win a national championship. But the pressure to win in the NFL is far greater than in College.

The Dolphins are a total mess with Culpepper still hurt and due $6 mil next year. And even if he's recovered, he's thrown about 8 TD passes since 2004.

Miami's three quarterbacks for their final game this year were Cleo Lemon, Joey Harrington and Shane Matthews.

I'm not surprised one bit he took the money and the lower stress job.

I'm not surprised either, but you've got to understand that the way he handles things is rather sneaky. I'm sorry, but I'm still bitter at the way he left LSU.

true. he was asked monday if he would be meeting with any Alabama people and his response was "I don't know about that." that got a laugh out of me.
