Never a good time to lose power especially for all us internet addicts, but I'd rather it happened now with this type of weather than in the middle of winter or in the hottest part of summer, but not trying to be tone deaf, I do feel for all you guys that lost power.
Yes Cal, we've enjoyed high 80's and low 90's temps here in north Texas which is very nice but unusual for this time of year. It'll get back to the high 90's soon. Only two 100's + so far this summer which is good for us. It won't get really nice until late Sep early October.

Hello my friends. Sorry to have missed yesterday's contests. Our power went out mid afternoon on Tuesday and was not restored until Saturday night. We were relatively fortunate - some folks in the state aren't likely to get full restoration until midnight Tuesday. Guess that ruins my chances for the Real Quiet perfect attendance award.

It was only classified as a tropical storm, but there must have been a few micro bursts mixed in - all over the state, many trees were knocked down, electric lines all over the ground and telephone poles snapped off. We've been through much stronger hurricanes with much less damage. At least it was midsummer, so no one had to worry about keeping warm, and with the long summer days there wasn't the feeling of sitting in the dark for so long that you get with a winter power outage. It was inconvenient, not dangerous. My first cup of coffee this morning was pure bliss.

As a silver lining our DVR somehow recorded the Travers race card even though the power was off and we couldn't access cable or internet - so I'll be able to see what I missed yesterday.
