The only thing I can think of is that Dortmund was born the wrong year.
I'm pretty sure Baffert didn't tell the jock he was supposed to lose to AP every chance he could. Dortmund just wasn't a 10 furlong colt. He may be able to get 10 now. He's matured. He's a moose. The owner wants the Derby, the BC, the biggest money races. Sorry,guy. The competition was too strong. Still is. |

The fact that his sire, Big Brown, has not been a commercial success, and that Dortmund has had soundness issues, and is very large are not pluses to stud farms.
He was my Derby horse and I hope Art Sherman is able to revive his career. |

In retrospective contemplation of the above comments;
it seems as though those with the insights that I have, have the same regard for my comments on the situation Dortmund had found his horseflesh within. And those racing folks believed, luck, had not shone its' light on thee, so to speak colloquially. I am pleased to see this talented horse will remain at Del Mar and Artie Schiller..ooops I mean Sherman, will drop him into the breeders cup races. American Pharoah, California Chrome,winner of the 2015 Santa Anita Derby........THAT WAS THEN BCC 2017 ..........THIS IS NOW ![]() |
