I've got to agree with you there... I got into this two years ago and I truly love it! I love to watch the horses run, I love the analytical side of the DRF and trying to determine a winner, I love the banter that happens at the track and on this site... this is good fun and I view my betting as a personal challenge of my abilities to "figure it out"... the $$$ is a bonus - "winning" is what makes it worth while.

I bet on horse races for the same reason Steve Fossett flies balloons around the world - I want to conquer something... I like to compete and win but I'm getting too old to play sports anymore and I've found that people don't like to play games with me because I'm an obnoxious winner and a piss-poor loser - bad combination for social events So, instead, I go to a track, or stay at home, and watch the horses run, and yell at them and pound my fist - and if I win - great... and if I lose - well, g*d-d*amn it! It just feels good to compete.

I opened my Youbet account a month before the Kentucky Derby with $650 and I have played $100 to $500 most weekends and I still have $296 left with a weekend left. I have hit some good P3 and DDs and yes I have also ate alot of dirt.

I know there is something here in my home I could sell at the pawn shop tomorrow so I can put together a pick 3 - lets see - no, I sold it all to the pawn shop with nothing to show but some clothes that smell like Beulah Park (this was all in humor)

I ventured into the Pick 3 and 4 land this year, smartest thing I ever did. I hit a nice Pick 4 this Spring, another one this summer, and some nice Pick 3's all thru the year.

I lost money this year gambling no question, but did not keep track of how much. I don't care to be honest, I have a nice place, some food in the fridge and freezer and my bills are paid, some of them

I came out dead even. I refuse to gamble on horse racing where horses are drugged infinitely...cheating is rampant etc. I would lose everything if I bet as I am not a very good handicapper. I just pretend I know a lot!!
