Nice!

What a close Derby. I was wrong about Rangipo - he's got plenty of stamina!

I'm not sure what happened with Splendido. He definitely hit the rail, and he might have stumbled for a step or two. But he seemed to be fine afterwards, luckily! Capella and Valley Girl were both affected by it, which made their performances even better.

Thanks and I am really stunned you took the time to answer as I know you're writing simultaneously (just read two of your pieces)... so exciting... all the races... must get some sleep but will watch ALL the replays again first thing. : )

Hooray for Derby Day!

It's embarrassing how many times I have now watched the Derby Day replays.I think I felt a little... cheated? Like I wasn't ready for it cause of being so busy with non-horsie life things lately. Ah well. Just a wonderful day of racing.

This made my morning... seeing that wonderful horsies name on The Informant...

"Whenever a float turns up he gets excited and we’re close to the racecourse here so when the races are on we have a big stereo unit turned up loud outside his box so he can’t hear anything

“If he hears the commentator he just gets stirred up and wants to get out there"

Aaaah I love you, Iamishwara.

Oh, I heard some amazing news about Durham Town that I included in my article about his retirement! Unfortunately it's going in the newspaper, so it will only be available to subscribers.

Maybe I'll post the relevant snippets here once the paper is out on Friday.

Here's the Derby winner's maiden win, back in September:

Here's the best bit from the article:

Quote:
“He’s had so much bad luck along the way, but he’s been ultra-consistent,” Logan said. “He’s done everything you could have dreamed for him to do, and he’s been the most wonderful horse to have around the stable.

“He’s going to have a life of luxury in his retirement now. He’ll join Zabeat, who’s still enjoying a happy retirement with us here, and we’ve actually got Sir Slick up here with us too. They’ll all spend their retirement together and have a great time.”
