Regardless of whether the FL Derby figs were accurate, no one can question his durability. Who wouldn't want to breed to another fast horse that couldn't make it half-way through his 3-yr-old campaign?

Different trainers have different objectives and programs. Some trainers are given liberty to develop a horse others are required to win early and get victories on books to satisfy connections. It's just the reality of game. Partnerships are great for exposing the modest owner to high quality stock, it comes at an expense to the longer term progress of the sport. The conversation on its impact on the game is a good one, positive and negatives on both sides of the coin.

I guess I am struggling to see where racing partnerships have lead to horses retiring early? Every situation is different really, every horse for that matter. Are you saying that partnership look for quicker results?

Some sure. Consider they purchase stock on the come and THEN sell into the offering. You think its harder or easier for a salesperson to pick up phone and say Watch our LAST purchase you missed run in the XXX Stakes this weekend or Come down to the barn and look at this one in the stall
