The great Irish have an exclusive TV deal they would have to forgeo if they joined a conference. I think they like the cash, its called smart business.
They have the guy with the hardware onhis fingers now, and the best Qb in the high school nation coming in, as well as 11 already signed top 100 guys!!! Number one recruiting class according to ESPN as well.
I think they have things in order.
Bama should look at pro coaches in trouble, and asst pro coaches. Maybe Romeo will free up, I doubt he likes Cleveland much these days.

Romeo isn't eligible to coach at Alabama.

They could be orange for all I care, it wouldn't change the fact that they suck.

Rodney King was beaten by Birmingham police
The Watts riots were somewhere in the Mobile Bay area
and Bernie Getz shot all those guys on a Tuscaloosa subway
thanks for reminding me!

wasn't Ron Paulus the #1 QB in the nation coming out of HS?
how many Heismans did Beano Cook say he'd win at ND?
just unsubstantiated hype

let me just ask you this, if UA were not a great job then why are we getting all of these coaches raises & renovations? If a lesser program came calling a prudent AD would not have budged an inch!

'bama was absent from post season for several years due to ncaa violations. they were ineligible for post season, and weren't allowed to be in the rankings from what i remember. that's quite a blow on recruitment efforts.

i think they pulled the trigger too quickly on shula. i think he did pretty well with the program considering the uphill battle he had to fight. now they have a program that hasn't done well, since it shot itself in the foot....and they have to try to convince a coach to take a shot. hell, if miami is having trouble finding someone willing to take a chance, just imagine trying to sell alabama. both schools want results, YESTERDAY. a lot of alums to try to keep happy, and keep their money.

well, I guess I didn't realize there were so many experts
on Alabama Football here besides myself and DD
Alabama has done nothing wrong
They simply are after the best coach they can find
as would all the top programs be in a head coaching search
we went after guy who is highly regarded in the coaching community
and he kind of left us at the altar and changed his mind
but how does that give the media & fans of other programs
the right to rip our program for trying to make a good hire?
we gave the guy an excellent opportunity~
more than doubling his current salary, top-notch facilities,
and a chance to compete at college football's highest level
how are we wrong in doing this? because he said no?
I say we keep aiming high, if not higher
or at least higher in the quality of the individual

I think spending more than one week or so would be a good start,
Maybe compiling a good list, and making quiet inquiries rather than put coaches still coaching on the spot now before bowl games.
Its half assed dude, half assed and half baked.
The notion that guys still coaching pro and college teams are just gonna drop what they are doing and come running because its bama.
I'm saying, they are going about this the wrong way, and I think by the results they are having thats its obvious.

for your info spurrier, saban, grobe contacted Bama behind the scenes.
RR was highly recommended to Bama by Homer Smith. if Homer Smith tells you to go get someone then i think you take that recommendation.

i have been asked to interview for the job at Alabama. Still weighing my options. it will have to wait for the end of our season here in KC. Home game this weekend but a tough Raven team to deal with. Practices were very good this week so we're expecting a big game tomorrow. Word.

Yeah ok sure, and I've been asked by President Bush to interview to be the new terror czar.
