Feb. 25, 2008 Can You Believe This. Gulfstream Park and Equibase now say that the times posted for the Fountain of Youth Stakes yesterday were all wrong. They now tell us the race was run in 1:49.53, not 1:51.85, a difference of over 10 lengths. Initial fractions are now said to be clocked at :23.56, :46.93 and 1:10.80. The mile is set at 1:37, which would mean the third quarter of the race was run in 26.20 seconds, if we are to believe these figures. The initial chart for the race put the early fractions at :25.78, :49.27 and 1:13.19, with the mile registered at 1:38.31. We are not very happy about this. This is not the first instance that times recorded at Gulfstream Park have been in error. It is a ridiculous situation, pure and simple.
