Is there any major differences between Allowance and Allowance optional Claiming races?....i know not all of the horses in an AOC are up for the claim. I asked my dad (who got me started in horse racing) and he didnt know the answer.

The horses that are entered in the optional claming price might have gone through their allowance conditions, except for NC and open allowance races, Another possibility say a horse wins nw2x his next step would nw3x and so on. If the trainer thinks that his horse can't win a nw3x, that it might be to tough, he enters him back into the nw2x/optional claiming were he will be competitive. The trainer will enter the horse for claiming price whatever the claiming price is set for.
