Before the Derby, Todd Pletcher said that the horse had been working in 'bar shoes' or 'similar' for a long time. Pletcher is notorious for statements like these and this particular statement most likely meant that Todd Pletcher had been working him in similar type shoes until he recently switched him to bar shoes

How do we know he was working in bar shoes before, I personally think he said that to try and make it not seem so bad. I think someone would have noticed it, or said something.
