Default The GOOL OLE BOYS WOULD BE PROUD

Citifest got cut recently. WHY? Wasn't he running hard enough previously?

Odom, Cocks, and the rest of the good ole boys would be proud

not to mention Hough.

The board was absolutely SCREAMING that he was a dead piece. Honestly, on paper he was a virtual cinch, and yet opened high and drifted from there. When I first looked at the race I seriously thought he would be 8:5 and would be value at that price.

How about the winner? Probably the worst horse in the race on paper, couldn't get the lead from Bailsby, yet was even money and won by the length of the stretch....while easily clearing to the lead.

I just don't get why this horse needed to be CUT. He tried hard in all his races.

I suppose he was difficult to handle but isn't that just part of the game?

It's sort of hard in life to know why things are done in general when you have nowhere near all the facts. I'm not saying it may not sometimes be done recklessly, I really have no idea, but I will trust that John Hertler had his reasons. Maybe I'm biased, as I really like John, and consider him one of the good guys.

It's impossible to understand many of the "why" aspects of this game when we see these horses about 20 minutes or so a month. The other 23 hours and 40 minutes in the day, and the other 29 or 30 days in the months tell much more of the story -- especially to someone who lives with the horses, knows what he/she is doing, etc. I've seen trainers cut horses for innumerable reasons.

You don't know what you don't know.
