Default Vineyard Haven...

is entered for THU at Nad al Sheba. The race is the 2000 Guineas and he'll face fellow Americans Desert Party and Regal Ransom.
Mike de Kock sends out So. Americans Rocks Off and Blues and Rock. So. American's have done very well in this race. Their runners have a big age advantage and the weight shift has meant little.

I don't know, they aren't exactly oozing confidence from all the quotes I've seen.

I don't think Suroor is anything special, esp after talking with some US based people who have been involved with some of the former Dubai based horses. VH was my choice 2yo. I had him in the Hopeful and Champagne and I was very disappointed when he went overseas. I hold out no hope for either him or Midshipman in the major US 3yo races.
IMO, deKocks's "4yo's" have a huge edge here.

Not too familiar with the deKocks horses but I just hope they send them here and put them in the hands of Kiaran Mclaughlin.

He feels like a major question mark to me. He's never been two turns before and he used to be trained by Bobby Frankel. It feels like he has nowhere to go but down.

You won't see any horses being transferred from DeKock to McLaughlin I'm afraid.

He's top notch.

It looked they were staggering a bit coming home late, but isn't that surface a bit deep? It seems a lot of Dubai races look like that.

yea it was clear (at least should have been) once you saw the entries this morning, and you could see that Desert Party was also in the race, that there were at least two horses they would let run even if it was a training race.
Never been a fan of Vineyard Haven's.

Missed the race, had to deal with cardiologists and surgeons all day, hopefully they put this race on kentuckyderby.com/video. Doesn't Justin Dew have a gig with them? Does Desert Party have any hope of a classic distance? At least they have all of Vineyard Haven's races up and have a good excuse to add this one - Hey JUSTIN ...

All I do is write. I try to stay out of the behind-the-scenes stuff. No idea when the replay for this race will be posted.

It's easy to move-up when you buy all the best horses.

Default Vineyard Haven distant 4th in Dubai

He was in position going around the turn but came under pressure once they straightened away and showed no interest late.

Desert Party, the 2008 Sanford winner, won going away. Regal Ransom held on for 2nd in a useful effort.

Do you think he'll have a prep, or just show up next in the Discovery off works alone?

VH was wrestled back and taken out of his free running style. He was stuck behind horses and never looked good.

Desert Party is by Street Cry and is likely a favorite of Sh. Mo as a result and is no doubt the "big horse" in the barn. I thought Regal Ransom ran on well after running close ealy.

Regal Ransom may have been the most impressive maiden winner at Saratoga last summer. Then they ran him on polytrack.

That must have been a different Desert Party than was plodding around NY last summer. Maybe he didn't like the mud when he won that stake at Saratoga, but didn't he bomb in his next start.....or was he scratched?

He bombed in the Hopeful after stumbling away from the gate.
