He wanted a long-term deal and the Jets, thankfully, weren't with that. None of his guaranteed money counts against the cap this season, which is also a positive. The Jets are now around $25 million under the cap, so expect them to address the position in free agency or early in the draft.

YES! I'll miss Laveranues, but I've been dying for the Jets to draft/sign an impact WR for forever. It also likely means that Clowney will be more involved.

He probably winds up with his buddy in Miami.

I agree. He didn't play well this past year, although whether it was because he's done, or he played hurt, remains to be seen. But there is no question they couldn't tie up that kind of money for a 32 yr old receiver.

Default I'm in Jags land......

Although I'm a transplanted loyal Redskins fan. But if I am the Jags brass, I'd come strong after Coles (who i believe still has a home in the area), Galloway, and perhaps even Marvin Harrison. Any of which would be better than the busts they have let go, and the bums which they have still hanging around!

Uhh they made the Super Bowl. The AZ Cardinals made the Super Bowl! AND almost won! I think he is worth it even if it is just a parting gift.

Please no Miami for Mr. Coles! Dont need declining, expensive WR's.

I think they are talking a 2 year contract. Who could they get to replace Warner that is nearly as good as he was last year?

I would think that with Warner they are one of 5 or 6 contenders from the NFC. Without him I doubt they are a playoff team.

QB's have a MUCH longer shelf life than most other position players. (with okay lines protecting them)...He's worth every penny IMO...That said, I think the best years are ahead of my man DM5.

Darrius Heyward-Bey would look good in a Jet uniform. Hell, he'd look good in Eagle green too.

I think Kenny Britt from Rutgers and Hakeem Nicks from UNC could be good alternatives as well if they choose to improve through this draft class.

Yeah, I think DHB is likely to be around at 17 and he had a great combine. I don't like Percy Harvin.

This move puts a lot of pressure on the Jets to go get Bart Scott and fill the ILB hole next to David Harris, but with the adjusted cap and around $28 million in cap room, they can go to the mat for him.

DHB definitely looked the part w/o pads on. Not a fan of Harvey either, although his speed could make him good at end arounds and quick outs. Has had problems in the past with his wheels. Could line him up as a back and motion him out creating a mismatch.

Scott would be a HUGE addition, aware of the system they are putting in place and an absolute monster in all aspects of the game.

Bart Scott was interviewed by Jim Rome today, and when asked why he chose the Jets over Baltimore, he told the story of how, at 12:01am on the eve of FA, his dogs started barking, and moments later he received a call from Dennis Thurman, the new Jets DB coach, telling him to control his dogs, that he and Rex Ryan were in his driveway.
Made a pretty strong statement.
