Default Record Handle for Oaks Day

As reported in Thorobred Times Today...

Churchill Downs reports wagering records for Kentucky Oaks day card

Churchill Downs set records for on-track, off-track, and all-sources wagering on the 11-race Kentucky Oaks (G1) day card, as well as
the Kentucky Oaks itself, on Friday at Churchill Downs.

Total wagering from all sources on the Kentucky Oaks was
$10,112,064, a 2.2% increase from the $9,890,141 wagered on the
race in 2006. On-track wagering on the Oaks was $2,968,635, a 5.4%
increase from the $2,816,104 wagered one year ago and off-track
wagering was $7,143,429, up 1.0% from the 2006 off-track total of
$7,074,037.

All-source wagering on the Oaks card rose to $33,570,510, a 1.5%
increase from the previous all-sources record of $33,076,351 set last
year. On-track wagering was $12,234,128, an increase of 0.7% increase
from the $12,150,844 wagered on-track the previous year.

Off-track wagering on the card was $21,336,382, a 2.0% increase
over the 2006 figure of $20,925,508.

The Kentucky Oaks attracted its third consecutive six-figure
crowd, but wet weather led to a 7.4% decline in attendance, as 100,075
attended the 133rd Oaks on Friday.

Last year’s crowd of 108,065 was 2.9% off the record 111,243 who
attended the 2005 Oaks. The Oaks has attracted at least 100,000
fans every year since 1999 except for 2004, when similar weather
conditions to Friday led to 98,445 spectators—the fewest since 94,415
in ’98.—Ed DeRosa

Even with the rain today, the handle was great. Could make for an even bigger day tomorrow...
