Soldat was nominated to this. Thought he'd show up. Anyways, he should return soon, probably in the Canadian Turf next week at GP under nearly identical conditions.

GP is good at stealing Tampa's thunder.

I don't think the return of Soldat to this race moves the meter in attendance or handle at either Tampa this week or Gulfstream next week. Soldat hardly has the name regognition to be " thunder inducing" in his comeback race.

That's not really what I was trying to say. But remembering last year's Timely Writer and the Animal Kingdom allowance last weekend, it seems that Gulfstream, one way or another, has an answer (or will come up with one) for any spot that Tampa can offer to a quality horse.

Certainly the proximity between the Tampa Bay BC and the Canadian Turf, both middle distance turf races for $150k, means that the two will be competing for the same bunch of horses.
