Default Doral

Spent the day at Doral today, must have walked 8 miles trying to catch a bit of as many players as possible. Some random stupid observations:

Sean Ohair: eagle-eagle start: very nice, missed it, watched Tiger play 10-13.

Tiger: Drove the ball really well. Missed more than a few long putts by inches. Have to think his putter will heat up, may still be getting used to the nuances of the "new" greens at Doral. He looked a little tired coming off 18 (his 9th) Really fun to watch, but hard to fight the crowd. The good thing is with most of the crowd following Tiger it's really easy to get close to the other groups with the exception of maybe Phil.

The Goose is loose.

Furyk: Holy crap, that swing is cool to see in person.

90% of these guys are at least 6-2

Wow, a lot of the crowd was speaking Spanish.

Harrington, Leonard, Allenby: fun group to watch.

Garcia: Did I miss something? How is he #2? Not sure how they figure the world golf rankings, but one thing I do know is he's not a fan favorite. Very few people following his group, and most of those were more interested in Kenny Perry.( How good is his game? wow!, fun to watch right now)

Anthony Kim: My favorite. He drove the ball in the rough on #1, stood literally 3 feet from his ball, with a couple of kids from U Miami. I bet one of them that he would hit a five iron, lost a buck when he pulled out a four. We were all blown away when he talked to us for a minute before his shot.

Rory McIlroy: That kid can hit the snot out of the ball. How much fun is he having? *(read:jealous of his youth )

Tiger doesn't usually start getting along with greens that he struggles with on Thursday, but we'll see. He's giving himself a lot of opportunities.
