I agree with your original post....it's basically an impossible number to do mathematically as the race was run exactly like a turf race. 106 or 107 seems fair.

Whatever the case, they are two terrific horses, and they put on a helluva show. Greatest game in the world.

seems right to me, that gives tiago about a 100 and i doubt he ran worse then he did in the santa anita derby.

The Belmont number is usually pretty irrelevant even with a normal pace.

The Belmont number is hard to figure when you have a decent pace. It gets more difficult when you have such slow fractions. I thought the winner would get a 110 or so, but I didn't think the race would be contested so slowly. But like BTW said, great race by two very very good horses. It was a treat to watch. Just wish I could have been there.

The Belmont figure is hard to calculate due to the lack of 12 furlong races run. Based on the figs these horses have run I think the projection was acccurate. It was a great race and was the only time I can recall having chills and goosebumps after a horse race. I'm glad I had seats near the finish line and was able to watch the race in person.
