Pmac,
There are all your typical chains (outback, hooters, Friday's etc.) in the area. There is a Philly sub chain called Lees Hoagie House that is kind of dingy but has great sandwiches. It is on Streets Road a mile or so past the track. http://www.leeshoagiehouse.com/

Thanks. I don't mind dingy!

Someone I know was also recommending a place called Mastori's Diner off i-95 in Jersey. Any excuse to visit a greasy spoon...

What we really need to know is how close is one of the top cheesesteak places to Philly Park such as Pat's or Gino's. Anyone know?

It is nowhere near there. There is a Jim's Steaks on Roosevelt Blvd. about 20 minutes away. (I personally always thought Jim's was the best anyway). That is probably the closest. Pat's or Geno's are about an hour our.

Steve's Prince of Steaks is the best of the well known Philly Cheese steak places nearby. There is a NE location on Busselton Ave. which is about 10-15 minutes away from the track. Not as well known as Pat's or Gino's but just as good.

Pat's and Geno's, which are both very ordinary, are on Passyunk in South Philly on the southern end of the wonderful Italian Market. If anyone is around Saturday and are going to go into Center City, then I'd highly suggest TONY LUKE'S on Oregon Ave. near the Sports Complex. It is far better than Pat's, Geno's or even the OK Jim's. In addition to the cheesesteak, the sandwich to have at Tony Luke's is the Italian Pork. Thin-sliced, melt-in-your-mouth pork lion cradled by peppery broccoli rabe and melting provolone. It is perhaps the best regional sandwich anywhere in the country. Tony Luke's is closed Sundays...

I called on Woodhaven Foods in North East Philly, where PHA is, and there is a very good Italian deli/sandwich joint called, appropriately, DATILLO'S. It is off Roosevelt below Woodhaven Blvd. It is a local legend.

I'll provide more info along these lines over the next day or so. In addition to doing business in Philly, I was an Eagles season ticket holder for 14 years. I've eaten about everywhere in town.

Me too until I got to the point where he said it was closed on Sunday. I will settle for great cheesesteak though!

Best Sandwich Evah! Had it at a Phils game, it was amazing. But don't forget the broccoli rabe, it's a must!
