Default Anyone ever work 3rd Shift? Question for you

I decided to transfer over to third shift, more money and responsibility. I am wondering, for those who have worked third, how do you regulate your sleep on your days off. I am fine during my work week, but throw in a day off and I get all messed up. Any suggestions?

By the way I thought I would hate it but quite the contrary, I love it.

my husband works third shift, but not permanently like you are doing. best thing for you to do would be to stay up overnight on your days off and sleep at the same time that you do when you're working. that way you're not miserable the first couple nights back at work.

The biggest thing is to get your sleep,no matter what! You're single and don't have the family duties, but if you try to 'blend' into society on your days off you'll have permanent jet-lag,and it will detrimentally affect your health.

I assume working 3rd shift means working from like 5-12PM?

sounds ok.
kind of like just betting Los Al and Australia instead of Philidelphia and Suffolk.

I think it would be cool b/c you could sleep from like 4AM-Noon.
do your day chores from like 2PM until you go to work.
then get off and get ready for Australian and Asian racing.

3rd shift is Graveyard! Midnite to 8am, or some variance of that timeframe. The trouble I had was not getting enough sleep and always knowing that 'work' was in front of me, not behind me, if you know what I mean!

oh,
ok thanks.

so its really just like staying up all night playing Australia.
ive done that plenty of times.
it sucks when you have to be at work at 8am and you did not finish Australia until a few hours before.
it really hits you after lunch.

I'm with Timm on the "sleep" thing (yet another reason I like you, Timm!). I would suggest keeping your schedule the same on your days off. I've had to learn that the hard way with weekends-- better to go to bed early most weekends and get up the same time as I do on weekdays. Of course, you'll have times when you don't, but if you generally keep the same schedule you'll probably be fine.

Glad you like working third shift! I think some people are natural night-owls anyway.
