Ghostzapper is no kind of sire for the classics. Look no further than this year's laugher, Loggins.

Maybe it's a blessing this horse is hurt now when there's time to recover but then again being pushed onto the Derby trail off a layoff is no walk in the park. And Loggins was in sort of the same boat and never even reappeared. Did this horse go to WinStar?

In his long career at stud, so far all that Ghostzapper has produced it terms of Derby "contenders" (the term is used loosely) has been Stately Victor, who lucked into the Derby by winning a Polytrack Blue Grass, McCraken who was having soundness problems by March of his 3yo year (yet still was pushed into the Derby & a subsequent career of mediocrity), and Hear the Ghost (who was injured soon after winning the San Felipe & eventually descended into claimers).

Those 3 were all several years ago, not sure if he's had even a rank outsider since then.

That doesn't sound promising. was a big Loggins fan just on the 2 races. Not off to a good start for RS.
