New Orleans
I'm going to be in New Orleans next week for the Derby. The fairgrounds is closed due to Jazz Fest being there that weekend. Does anyone know the closest OTB to downtown NO? I've found one called Finish Line OTB but no one picks up the phone so I can't tell if they are open or not. Thanks!

My sister lives in Belle Chasse, La which is a half hour south of NO. There is an OTB in Gretna which is about 10-15 min south of NO. Also, just go on Fairgrounds website. There are about 12 OTB locations with maps. I just don't know which is the closest to downtown.

There's one in Metairie right off Causeway Blvd, but it's pretty small. Nicest one is in Kenner not far from the airport just off Williams Blvd near the lakefront, but it's quite a far trip from downtown. Harahan is your best bet unless you wanna cross the Miss river to the west bank where there's another OTB...stick with Harahan |

Agreed Harahan or Kenner. Kenner's not much further. If you're taking a taxi or Uber a lot of them charge to go over the river, keep that in mind. Kenner OTB is really nice.
The minute they open they begin to get packed, a lot of reserved seating too. If you have online account so you can place your bets, there is a Derby festival on Fulton St. between Poydras & Convention Blvd. near Harrah's right downtown. Google Derby on Fulton St. it's a benefit for Team Gleason, focusing around Apres Lounge & Fulton Alley. |
