Anyone interested in an unofficial Cheltenham Contest?

Alright Chief! How's it going?

Will indeed be up for a competition, although I'm going on Thursday and Friday so will probably just lump all mine down in one go at the beginning of the week.

Wish I could do it, but I just haven't the time at the moment. Maybe I will get chance to post selections for one or two days.

Good luck to everyone who does this, looks like we could get some bigger priced winners this year.

Are we doing this?

If so.....

(Oh and if not just ignore me).

Anglo Irish Bank Supreme Novices' Hurdle (grade 1) - Pigeon Island

Irish Independent Arkle Challenge Trophy Chase (grade 1) - Thyne Again

Smurfit Kappa Champion Hurdle Challenge Trophy (grade 1) - Maybe Sizing Europe and Sublimity are monsters but I'll go with Harchibald.

(Hey ARyan..... Straw Bear is in this one!)

William Hill Trophy Handicap Chase (grade 3) - Favorite horse of the day, MONKERHOSTIN!!!!!

Bgc Cross Country Handicap Chase - (NO idea)

Fred Winter Juvenile Novices' Handicap Hurdle (listed) - Ashkazar

Cross Country - Native jack (even though Heads Onthe Ground will probably win, gotta go with the underdog).

I entered the Racing Post contest for 5 quid, in which my first day horses were:
Supreme Novice's Hurdle - Numide
Arkle Chase - Tidal Bay
Champion Hurdle - Osana

You get bonus points based on odds, so picking against the favorites makes some sense. One hopes Sizing Europe, for instance, is coming down with a cold and runs below par, opening the door for a second or third choice, that sort of thing.

Having looked forward to the Festival with fevered excitement for months and months, we've suddenly reached the first day and I've realised that I don't actually fancy anything that strongly!

Nevertheless the racing is still unbeatable, so get set for the best four days of the year.

Supreme Novices'...Pigeon Island has got a rock solid chance but it would be slightly disappointing if there isn't something with a bit more scope for improvement. To that end I'm going with Khyber Kim.

Arkle...A poor renewal. By a process of elimination it has to be Noland.

Champion...Have fancied several for this over the winter, slightly concerned the ground may have gone against Harchibald, so plumping for Punjabi.

William Hill...Again a below-par renewal of what is usually a fiercely competitive handicap. I'm taking An Accordion on on account of his sketchy jumping, but finding something else is very difficult. Flying Enterprise is too big a price.

X-Country...Probably Wonderkid, but I really don't know!

Fred Winter...The front two in the betting look dangerously well handicapped, but both are coming off a very recent win, 3 days in the case of Ashkazar. He couldd easily prove too good and round up into a Champion horse next season. As it is I'm going with a big-priced alternative in Siege of Ennis.

Good luck to everyone and, above all, savour it!

Is Monk okay?

Didn't see the race and if he was pulled up I really don't need to.

Congrats to all who had winners today... hope they all came home safe.

I sucked but nothing new...

Voy Por and Leg Spinner are my only picks for tomorrow. Sticking with those i know....

Editing in The Listener..... that is tomorrow, correct?

Confused!

More races than I'd actually care for tomorrow (did I really just say that?!?!) Been a nightmare trying to go through the handicaps. Here goes nothing:

National Hunt Challenge Cup - Back On Line
RSA Novice Chase - Pomme Tiepy
Jewson Novice Handicap Chase - Mr Strachan
Queen Mother Champion Chase - Twist Magic
Ryanair Chase - Mossbank
World Hurdle - Inglis Drever will probably win, but no value. I will go with Kazal
Racing Post Plate - Don't Push It
Pertemps Final Hurdle - Dancing Tornado
Kim Muir - Innox
Champion Bumper - Big Eared Fran
