The J-bred program might be the best in the nation.

I would definitely be interested in the NYB partnership.

Can you guys send a video off to Kentuckyrose for an assessement of soreness/soundness...if she says Sumwon is ok then my check will be in the mail immediately....I am just naturally assuming that you will also have her view a video of any NY-Bred that you are considering....

jk

I'd be interested in the NY Bred partnership..

Where do you want to get licensed?

I had to get licensed in KY in 2003. All I needed to do was fill out an application, have a trainer, and pay them $100. Although I had an additional liability insurance through the National HPBA, I was never asked for that info. Maybe it's changed since then but I doubt it.

Ahh, NY - a whole different beast. Haven't been licensed there since 2001 and all I recall about it was they wouldn't accept prints from any other state. It also seems like I had to have a couple hundred $$'s in my horsemen's account to cover liability insurance before I could run......but I could be wrong about that.

Each year after your initial application, the renewal process is quick and painless. I don't know if the process has changed since I originally was licensed.

You can review the application at the address below.

Sumwons CD Work

http://www.deeteestable.blogspot.com/

Yesterday Sumwonloves you worked 5 furlongs in company with a 4 year old gelding named Mixteca. She started off about 2 lengths behind Mixteca going to the 5/8ths pole beginning the work. She sat behind him until they hit the far turn where she angled out and moved up beside him. They worked head to head to the wire and she was clocked in 102.2. Her gallop out was good, around 115 for 6 furlongs, and she did not seem especially tired after the work. Jockey Pat Johnson was aboard for the work and he said she changed leads perfectly and was very willing to do more if he asked her to. Partners Benny Ledger and his son were there to see the work and take pictures. They both seem like great guys and were hopeful to meet other partners at Keeneland on the 11th.

We are all set for the race and I have received the call from James Graham for the race. He is a good turf rider and he will not be afraid of the price on the tote board. We will probably work her one more time next Saturday which is the same day as the entries are taken for the 11th. Assuming nothing changes between now and then we should know if we are in the race and our post position by around 2 pm next Saturday.

She has come a long way in a short period of time and it is time to see where she is at. I certainly think that she will improve but she will have to in order to be competitive in an allowance race at a track like Keeneland. In the case of rain we almost certainly would run on the polytrack if the race were to come off of the turf. So you can be pretty secure in making your travel plans if we are lucky enough to draw into the race.

I gotta agree with you Riot!!! This has been a lot of fun and I'm anxious to see her race.

But the best part about owning her so far? NO BILLS!!!!!!!!!

Chuck, I sure hope she gets in next Wed and you get a payday!! Can't thank you enough for your work so far and I hope she rewards you handsomely!!! (Sumwon, that is..... )

Ditto that, Chuck. Your investment and risk in this venture is far greater than any of ours - I hope all your hard work, and willingness to get involved in this unusual arrangement in first place, pays off well for you!

I am most appreciative of this rare opportunity to be, "the owner of a race horse", at an unbelievably affordable level, of your willingness to ensure we are having fun, and learning more about the sport via the ChuckBlog, your keeping us informed on Sumwon's progress, etc.

I see Sumwon's workout partner from Saturday, Mixteca, is entered at KEE the 6th - good luck!

Glad to hear mixteca is in on the 6th. After seeing him in person, I must say that he is one fine looking animal.

I saw james Graham take a harsh spill at the Fairgrounds about three weeks ago in the 8th race, dust off and get up and ride the winner of the 9th. HE'S GOT TRUE GRIT.
