i like great hunter in this spot.
as a son of aptitude he should appreciate the stretch out in distance. his numbers are solid and improving and i think the switch to espinoza will be a perfect fit.
he should be a good price too since all the $$ will probably go to pletcher's thunder gulch.

Great Hunter might be a cut below the best 2 yo's, but it more about who will get a hold of the track in this race.

Since everyone is saying the longshots have it on poly, I'm going for French Transition.

CQ does look like the one to BEAT in this spot even if the pace is slow I don't think it is gonna matter. His final times are faster than these even if the walk the dog for 7F he is still gonna run them down. I think if Scat Daddy was in this race and CQ was not he would be 3-2 so right around 1-1 would be a gift on this one

Based on several factors 1) It is a two turn race which is something new for Quay. 2) The added distance is another factor. 3) Not positive he will like the PolyTrack surface.

Can't this be said about every horse in the race?

But not every horse in the race will be even money.

Besides, there are a couple of horses in here that have been two turns...like passport.

Maybe Circular Quay does demolish this field but at that price? Too many questions for me and the two turn question is bigger than the surface.

No knock here. He is a fine two year old and it will be fun if he sticks around for awhile.

and if you feel like even money is a "gift" as someone else said, then have at it. Personally, there are too many questions here. Two turns, new surface and a bigger field than what he has faced the last couple out. All that and you only get even money? No thanks.

Going with Birdbirdistheword to upset Circular Quay. Also expect Street Sense to hold on for third. Bird is two for two on the grass and has won at 8.5f The favorite has not been two-turns, probably won't get as fast a pace to run at, and will have several more horses to negotiate through. He's good but that's a lot to overcome. Street Sense ran big in his debut then huge in breaking his maiden. Couldn't hold on in the slop in last but could get brave running up front here.

Well Passport has a win at a two turn race. I have seen Passport work over the PolyTrack and he seems to love it. Quay has never been over the surface. I havent seen or heard of him going over the surface at Keeneland but I am sure he has been out for a gallop. I have also seen Street Sense over and over and I really feel that he is going to run big this weekend.

I'll second that, he jumped out at me as solid value a few days ago when I looked at the entries. Street Sense and Carl Nafzger in the Lane's End on top of Great Hunter and CircularQuay.

I'm a little scared of taking CQ on the poly, but two turns is the last thing that worries me about him.
He just destroyed arguably some of the top 2 year olds in the country at Saratoga in a Grade 1, and now people think he's going to lay an egg against a field that includes 2 maidens and a horse that won a stakes at River Downs??
Gomez stays on CQ, which is even more reason to like him.
I'm not going to bet him to win at a short price, but will single him in
my pick 4.

Street Sense is the real deal, and ran well against two horses I love (unbridled express and Officer Rocket). Great hunter should also run well here.
