Retirements ~ 2013
Unusual Suspect...
http://www.news.com.au/sport/superra...-1226546733623 * * * Lucas Cranach... http://www.thoroughbrednews.com.au/a....aspx?id=64145 * * * Chachamaidee... http://bloodstock.racingpost.com/new...e/1179606/top/ * * * The Peak who was looking like a star in the making (HK). 5 wins from 7... no idea what. * * * Corporal Jones... a wonderful horse who did not exactly thrive in HK (11 races, never hit the board. Not evenclose I'm sorry to say). Back home in NZ he had been 2-3-1 from 6. His three 2nd place finishes were in the NZ Derby, the Waikato Guineas and the Championship Stakes (ed please correct me if I'm getting any of this wrong!). This is the 2010 New Zealand Derby... an amazing all star cast and really not too many chances to post it, so (even though he was 2nd just a beautiful run)... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLw4pX_pQwQ Last edited by my miss storm cat : 01-04-2013 at 12:31 AM. |

I didn't want to start a thread on it since I'm probably the only one doing cartwheels over the news, but Sam P. (who was retired a few years ago) looks AMAZING!!! I love the rearing photo.

Lucky Tycoon, 9, HK "cellar dweller" and Class 4 regular who sunk even lower to Class 5...
78 starts (7-5-8), he was the only horse this owner had in training (had owned a total of 2. Pretty unusual for over there (likely the guy is not a big gazillionaire). Happy retirement to a warrior. Hope he doesn't end up in the ashtray of HK (Macau). |

Thank you, Mr. Cruz, for once again proving you now have a heart and that miracles do happen.
Happy retirement, Beauty Flash, member of the HK old guard and multiple G1 winner, who has shown no interest in racing for the past 2 and a half seasons (since returning from Dubai in Spring of 2011). My favorite race of his... one of the spurts where he'd won three in a row (three G1's in this case), here's the Group 1 Queens Silver Jubilee Cup where he beat such greats as Good Ba Ba and Lucky Nine (and some pretty damned good horses like One World and Sunny King). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fmo37nT3Cfc Hope he gets to go home now. |
