if you don't have anything to hide, no use getting worked up about it.

I would say there's a little thing called invasion of privacy to get worked up about! I don't want someone listening to conversations I may be having with friends or family in public or private, just because I happen to leave my cell phone on! The whole report was disturbing, you don't have to be hiding a damn thing, just to want a little privacy protection.

Geesh, since the first (giant, heavy) cell phone was invented, it's been known they are not secure. Pretty easy to intercept, always have been.

But what if People For The Protection Of Melons
find out I mate with Cantaloupes and
Zebras?

What kinda fix would I be in then?

I might be forced to run for a political office.
What then?

If you have a teenage daughter and some POS is calling her and threatening to rape her.....you'd get worked up.

i agree but if the line is tapped shouldn't they able to use that to catch the POS ? most phones have gps so they can be tracked.

It's a local report from an Indianapolis TV station. Deals with private intrusions, but they certainly didn't investigate what our government is capable of doing.

Put the word "Echelon" in your search engine for more information about the security of cell phone calls, or any other communications, for that matter.

The thing that is more surprising is the ability to eavesdrop when you are not even making a call.

i guess i'm an oddity . i have a cell phone for work and one for personal use and don't use either very much. our personal phones share 800 min. and only use about 100mins a month. the line being tapped just doesn't enter my mind.

it's not so much illegalities you have to consider. we do a lot of business over cell phones, i'd hate for a competitor to ever pick up any of it. or a customer for that matter.
