Default Question, 6th @ CD Friday

Maiden Clm 15,000. Ok, my question is why would the 11 horse who ran a 2nd @ 75,000, then drops to 50,000 and runs 3rd. Now he plummets to 15,000? What should this tell me from a handicapping standpoint. They really trying to get rid of this horse or what?

Couple of things here--1) they want to get a win. His first race was Maiden Claiming $15k. He ran ok, so they moved him up and he did just fine. I think the horse is not injured based on his bullet work on June 22nd. Keep in mind the bullet is at the Training Center and not at Churchill. I think they want him to get a win, so he can run in some higher level claiming or allowace races. He is going to be a HUGE fav in this race. The jockey/trainer is winning at 26% at Churchill. He has hooked a very very weak field. Snooz is his only competition. If the 11 runs a 58 beyer then he wins this race easily.

Gotcha, Thanks. I was thinking maybe he had a problem or something, but like you said, the bullet work was there. I can definately see them pointing him to an N1x allowance of this win, if they get it. They arn't afraid of the claim? Or do they have the option of keeping him?

I am sure they wouldnt mind if the horse did get claimed. But they also wouldnt mind if he did. That is the risk you take in claiming races. The claiming game isnt that big at Churchill.

Actually, she is a she. Can't find her sale price, probably a private sale, but her previous sibling to go at public auction went for $20K and that one couldn't run; I can't imagine she cost that much. So with the winning purse ($9000), previous earnings $8500, and $15K from the claim, if she was claimed, they would still come out ahead with her.

whorstman, we should hang together at CD before it all comes to an end
I'm planning on being there the day of the big 2 y/o stake races
and perhaps a few times in between
welp, lemme know buddy
might check out Ellis Park this august...
it's supposed to be trying to catch up with Saratoga
as far as quality of racing and atmosphere
but if not...
then there's always River Downs
until the beloved autumn meeting
falls upon us

That would be all good. I'm always out there on the weekends. Happy hour Friday is always on. This Friday my friend is ruining his life by getting married so I won't be there then. But I definately plan on going several more times before the end of the meet.
