Impressive time for Angelo Taylor, and impressive to come back and win after winning this event in 2000.

He's not breaking 19.32.

I don't know, like Atlanta, that track is juiced. If Bolt keeps the pedal down through the finish he will get real close. Without a doubt sub 19.50.

he went 20.5 in the first round of the 200 and basically jogged the last 50m. IF he run through the tape in the finals, he'll smash the recored.

Sub 19.50 would be incredibly impressive and is within the realm of possibility. I don't know if 19.32 is possible for him.

his 20.5 was the fast of the first round. shawn crawford looked good but bolt should crush him.

You think he can shave 1.2 seconds off the last 50m? I'll time the splits when I get home but unless he went over 6 seconds for the last 50m that just isn't possible.

He's so smooth he's still flying even when he's geared down, despite running sideways at the end of the 100 he wasn't losing any ground. So how relaxed he looks makes it appear that he can do a lot more (like a horse in a hand ride). I think he can go 19.50 but I think 19.32 is out of reach.

I love MJ and will be sad to see his record go, just as long as Wariner doesn't run 43.18. He claims he will.

I thought only Michael Phelps was there.

400 qualifying started today. Or was it yesterday?

i know that the qualifying just started, but why didn't they hype him at all in advance? i mean they've hyped everyone else.

warnier disn't look smooth like he did in 04. i think he worked harder than he wanted to move to the second round. merritt looked Very Smooth and relaxed.

could be a lot of reasons...most of the attention went to Phelps, all the track attention went to Bolt/Gay/Powell, but more likely, Wariner is pretty boring and lacks personality. I haven't liked him since he dumped Clyde Hart (greatest 400m coach ever, MJ's coach, his coach at Baylor) over the winter, just before the OLYMPIC GAMES over a contrct dispute. Hope Lashawn Merrit nips him at the wire.

he regrets the change already. he's not the same. based on the first round, merritt will beat warnier by 2 steps. IMO
even shawn crawford went back to his old coach for the 200.

maybe thats why he wasn't hyped, because everyone knows he isn't the same as before and likely to get dusted this time.
