There’s a hoss named Basie in the first at Belmont today. I can remember a big black mare named Basie that Scotty Shulhofer shipped to Suffolk to win a stake at a good price.Saw The guy driving the van told me she would win. Saw him on the return trip and the first thing he said was “Did you bet .” I told him after the race we were jumping like we were at the Woodside. He even knew what I meant. Love that story.
