Default Can we choose the Derby Superfecta?

I've been thinking about this for awhile and how this would be a great community for it. It'll be our own sort of internal Derby poll.

All you have to do is list your ranked Derby top 4 -- how you see the superfecta coming in. No more, no less and you need not offer any explanation for your decision. I'll score them on a 5-3-2-1 basis and see if DT can come up with a coherent picture of how we think the Derby exotics will come in.

I'm not ready to rank mine yet, but if anyone is clear already on how they feel, go for it. I'll tally the final votes Saturday morning when I wake up! Only one vote per person, of course.

I'll even put $2 on it, just in case we are that good.

But I've been wrong before

Your signature is exactly the reason why the more people who participate the better the final tally will be. We should get a good idea of who the consensus DT contenders are, that's what made it sound so fun to me back in March when I first thought about it.

An of course, you can edit your post with your picks up until Friday night and it will still be counted as your final choices!

My top four and how I see the Superfecta coming in are two different things.

For example, IMO, if I do a line on the race, Curlin is the most likely winner. However, I won't be betting him to win (odds related decision)

Anyway....here are the three different ways I view this race.....when tallying up your consensus, please only score the one you feel best describes the category you're looking for.

Most Likely Winner of race:
Curlin
Any Given Saturday
Hard Spun
Nobiz Like Shobiz.

The straight Superfecta I would play from a betting value standpoint:
Any Given Saturday
Curlin
Street Sense
Sam P.

The Superfecta that I believe is most likely to come in:

Curlin
Any Given Saturday
Street Sense
Nobiz Like Shobiz

The only problem with your post is that usually the superfecta/board is sprinkled with different types of runners. If you sprinkle some closers in here, I think you have it about right. If Curlin does win, I dont see AGS and NoBiz also hanging on for a piece, I think they will succumb. While Ss is a closer of a sort, I am thinking more like Tiago and Circular Quay will mix in w/ Curlin or Hard Spun for the super..

On the other hand, I don't think the presence of a closer at the line is necessarily mandated, since a win by Curlin doesn't necessarily mean a super fast pace. Therefore, I largely agree with Drugs. And while I don't disagree with Drugs' "value" super pick, I think that any super you get right will be "value". Beyond the dreams of Midas.
