Supposed to rain Wed, Thurs, Friday in Lexington, then Saturday cool (50's) and partly cloudy, no rain.

Consider that the 2-yr-old training babies are running in the 10's on the poly yesterday - I doubt it will be different for Saturday, especially with the rain keeping it tight.

was it that bad for Elysium ? your right though, if i ever did single him it would be more with my heart, and not with my head.

Robin Smullen made it sound bad... 105 degree temp... 4 hours to cool out, etc..

Per bloodhorse. (And again, these odds seem completely off to me). I can't imagine playing Pyro at even money in a race which is obviously a prep and his fist race on synthetic.

1.Cool Coal Man, Kent Desormeaux, 4-1
2.Kentucky Bear, Jamie Theriot, 50-1
3.Cowboy Cal, John Velazquez, 15-1
4.Stevil, no rider, 30-1
5.Monba, Edgar Prado, 15-1
6.Big Truck, Eibar Coa, 6-1
7.Pyro, Shaun Bridgmohan, even money
8.Stone Bird, Corey Lanerie, 50-1
9.Medjool, Michael Baze, 30-1
10.Miner’s Claim, Patrick Husbands, 20-1
11.Halo Najib, Garrett Gomez, 15-1
12.Visionaire, Jose Lezcano, 6-1

Is there a rule this year that says Zito HAS TO DRAW THE RAIL in every prep race?

Took the words out of my mouth. That's the first thing I thought when I saw the draw.

As far as Pyro being 1/1........The general public will bet him, regardless of this race as his last Derby prep.

Visionaire piques my interest from post 12.

Battaglia has made my Saturday much more interesting. Pyro at even money (and actually he probably isn't too far off with that) is a joke... there's a Dominican in here, just a matter of finding it...

And jeez, look at the closer that day...just off the top of my head, over half of those are stakes winners -- most of them graded.

Sheesh, what a hell of a race to close the day out.

Keeneland has switched Races 1 and 7 for better Pick 4 Wagering Selections.

any reason why Zito is sticking with Desormeaux when he's obviously staying with BIG BROWN for the Derby.

$1188.

i think you mistake his being a good journalist and commenting on a lot of runners for covering the field.

i read that article as an endorsement for some longshots with experience on poly.

Kentucky Bear at 50-1? He could crash the tri at a big price. He was pretty highly regarded going into his last race.

Pyro certainly doesn't have to win this. Due to the upside down nature of the surface, he could very well be off the board.....which would help his price nicely for that little race a few weeks down the road in Louisville. I think Asmissen's main goal here is conditioning.....if he wins great, if not and the horse is set up perfectly for the Derby, I don't think he'll mind at all.

Let's hope that the first 6f doesn't resemble the tortoise race that was last year's running.

He looks like he's been training well, Coach. Personally I don't think he's nearly as talented as a few in here but he might be fully cranked for this. Tagg says he might not run him if the weather's bad, though.
