Default Ateam - You have to take the good with the bad

You dropped a flashy "VOA" stat on me a few days ago that showed the Jets having the best defense in 2009 - with the Pats back in mid-pack.

Cool - since I haven't followed football in terms of following more than one player since about high school and grade school - I wasn't really sure what the stat meant.

I just thought you might like to know that the same stat applied to QB's - from that same site - rates Tom Brady the NFL's #1 QB in 2009.

The schedule was so daunting, Brady had the toughest schedule for a quarterback since Football Outsiders started measuring stats.
Yeah, toughest in terms that he was beaten to sh!t the whole year and playing like a cripple at the end. I'm not sure if I even buy all the stories about him playing through 6 broken ribs and a thumb injury last season .. but I certainly don't buy he was the best qb in the NFL last year.

Right, and what the hell does this do to disprove that the Pats' defense hasn't been good in three years? Brady's a good QB based on DVOA? ZOMG you totally got me! I never knew that!

Matt Cassel was rated 48th out of 50th in 2009 ... he did somehow manage to nose out Jamarcus Russell ... a purple drank guzzling bum with two rookies starting at reciever.

One year prior - he led the Pats to an 11-5 record.

Duante Culpepper was 3rd in DVOA as a rookie - was 2nd to Payton Manning in Moss's final year in Minny - and routinely beat Tom Brady in this stat. The decrepid Randall Cunningham and hopeless and old Jeff George were also stars at this in Minny.

Get ready for an explosive and healthy Pats offense.

Right, behind an even worse offensive line than the one that you say got Brady "beaten to sh!t" last year. Keep going.

Big deal. Haven't I told you about that the Pats added a rookie stud blocking tight end and a vet blocking tightend in the off-season? Between 5 O-lineman and two stellar blocking TE's... Brady should be fine.

And even if Brady gets KO'd early in the season again like he did in the first quarter of the first game in 2008 ... we have Bobby Hoyer as our backup QB.

He's an undrafted 2nd year player out of Michigan State .. he looked ok in the first preseason game. Trust me, he'll do. I'll take him over Cassell anyday.

At least make me laugh if you're going to be this retarded. You know nothing about the New England Mosses, so stop pretending.

What's to know about them?

A facebook friend of mine who was on my baseball team in 8th grade - and is now a beat writer covering the Pats and does a few ESPN radio gigs about them ...

he seemed pretty lost with their depth chart - and he's there.

That's a good thing? You can't win in the NFL with no running backs and no offensive line, sorry dude.

I feel for you if you took the sucker bait and play the Jets to win the AFC East.

The Pats will have a competent O-line and running game. The defense will be fine.

They will coast into the playoffs.

The defense rests.
