He should be remembered as the BC Sprint winner that skipped the Grade 1 Vanderbilt to run in an ungraded race at Mountaineer.

IL bred had a magical year in 2014 after capping it off with the Breeders' Cup Sprint victory. I think it worked out well and Vanderbilt winner Palace could only manage to finish 6th.

All the more reason he should have run then....instead of slithering off to Mountaineer for an ungraded race.

No such thing as a confidence boosting race?

Nope, and I'm positive the same poster was saying the exact same thing when Commentator was running against NY breds in '09.

Oh wait...urr, ummm...nevermind.

Commentator was gelding... Commentator was a Laimo... Was he not suppose to run in 300 to 500k purses that where soft spot as a gelding?

That was Commentator's first start of the year.

There is a reason I have that nimrod on ignore. Please don't quote him going forward. I can't be the only one around here uninterested in his drivel.

That's the whole thing. I'm not disagreeing whatsoever with who the horse ran against. I'm fine with Commentator going against NY breds just the same as Work All Week running against whoever. Clearly sometimes finding a softer spot is what the horse needs in my opinion...and obviously in the opinion of some top trainers.
