15th anniversary of Derby Trail!
Today..
For those that don't know or remember the back story, I had created Derby Trail as a Yahoo Group in February of 2003 ("A Derby Contender on the Cide") and had the notion to build a real website after joining ATR in November 2005. The base of the membership here came from that group and/or the congregates at the ESPN Horse Racing Message Board. DT was about ready to launch during Triple Crown season when Barbaro was stricken. An army of trolls descended on the ESPN board and with that forum an overnight mess, the switch was thrown. We've had a slew of racetracker characters and lot of fun here and countless real life friendships have been generated. Hooves' idea in '07 for everybody to claim a horse was the genesis for Dee Tee and more than 250 owners have been involved in wins at 9 different tracks since including 75 in the winner's circle at Saratoga 8/29/10. The idea has always been to enhance everyone's enjoyment and understanding of the game and I greatly appreciate the atmosphere you created here. Steve

Happy 15th Anniversary!
Steve, thanks for your efforts and creativity. I can't believe it's been 15 years, time definitely flies. I was one of the transfers from the ESPN message board and knew this site would be a success because of your hard work and dedication to the sport of horse racing. I've met some great people because of this site and owe a major part to Derby Trail for landing a gig with Brisnet/TwinSpires. There's been some characters throughout the years and some great insights from some of the sharpest horse players around. I wish Derby Trail continued success.

Congratulations on 15 years, Steve!
I think I may be the only person on here that joined from the Eagles forum on sports-boards. Glad I did. I know it’s hard to imagine, but I was actually worse at handicapping 10 years ago than I am today. I’ve learned a lot from everyone on here. We’ve got a great group. |

Happy Anniversary DT. Haven't been here since the absolute beginning, but pretty close. It's been fun and hope it continues on for a long, long time.

Congrats Steve. I'm another from the ESPN board. Hard to believe it's been that long since the ESPN message board and their pick 6 contests.

I remember coming up from South Carolina to Saratoga years ago only to see this "Carolina BBQ" and saying I need to meet the person trying to pull this off.
From there you introduced me to DerbyTrail, And there was Morty, DrugS, and a whole cast of characters. And there was Sumwonluvsyou, and Chuck, maybe not in that order Thanks for all you do Steve! Met a lot of people and learned even more. Spyder from SC
