Steve - Now that you're not on the Carolina patio, where can we find you for paddock passes?

Thanks. I won't be there, but my brother will. Best of luck and safe trip for Junior & Pal! (And let's hope he avoids the tag!)

Slightly odd experience today as Alvarado never sets Pal down for a run and when he did try to move at the top of the stretch, was repeatedly blocked by an erratic All Alex. Literally said after the race, "I never got to ride really, but I had horse." Was fifth beaten a length and a half for 3rd and no one was getting to the winner. Came out fine and given how little running was done, might go again before the meet ends. Was a gorgeous day. Thanks to those who came out and watched at home.

Steve: Any idea what the chart caller was referring to when he wrote, "...passed tired rivals in the stretch under very tepid and sporadic encouragement to the wire."

Seems to infer Junior gave less than his best, but I didn't necessarily see it that way. Your thoughts?

It looked like Pal got bumped around in the start also.

I thought the chart call was rather insightful with 'tepid' a prescient adjective for the ride. Alvarado didn't seem to try to gain position at all and never truly asked Pal for run. In his defense at the same time, I appreciate that he might have been starting to go at the top of the stretch only to be repeatedly stymied by All Alex.

Steve,

You have done a tremendous job defending numerous jockeys over time, but rightly went after both Lanerie and Rosario for that rodeo disguised as a race on Sunday.

It is quite frankly hard to believe that Junior Alvarado has eleven wins (with Collborator today) at this meeting. He has been riding tentatively all meeting and has yet to figure out how to ride the 1m and 1 1/16m turf races from an outside post.
