He and King Charles are quite a couple of guys. Weird how some of the reports about Charles DUI the other night were left out of some mainstream sports reports.

The 11-time NBA All-Star was arrested, cited and released on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI and being impaired to the slightest degree. Gilbert police Lt. Pete Smith pulled over Barkley's black Infiniti SUV at 1:30 a.m. after it rolled through a stop sign at about 10 mph near 75th Street and 6th Avenue in Scottsdale.
Impaired to the slightest degree?? What kinda sh*t is that?? |

US golfer John Daly reacts after missing a fairway shot on the 1st hole during the first round of the Australian Open golf tournament in Sydney, Australia, Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011. Daly walked off the course at the Australian Open on Thursday after hitting at least five or six balls _ officials aren't sure of the number _ into the water on the 11th hole at The Lakes. Seems Like This Belongs Here.....
A question for GPK and any other golfers among us.....
John Daly seems reborn yet again by his 2012 PGA/EURO performance over the last six months but more so recently..... So far this year JD has about 300K in earnings combining his PGA and EURO circuit earnings having made 4 of 5 PGA cuts and 5 of 7 on the European tour. His June play rewarded final round improvements twice as he finished 24th yesterday at the Euro Irish Open shooting a final round 67 after three weeks previously dropping a 64 final round on his PGA competitors in the Fed Ex St. Jude at TPC Southwind netting him 67K for the effort. JD is scheduled to play the next 3 weeks in the Greenbrier (6.1M) ,John Deere (4.6M) and British Open (8.0M) for almost 20 million in prize money which could easily bump his 2012 earnings north of a half million by the end of July. To keep your card last year you had to finish better than 125th place on the money list which was about $364,000. Daly has better than 80% of that combining his earnings on both circuits which is not allowed. I wanted to know if he did earn the number in PGA events, does he get his card back? Is there a mechanism for JD to earn his PGA card back here by his play and money earned or is the new DOT.Com the only way in the door to full time player status ......?? Does money earned in the British Open count toward earnings used to calculate the Money List for the PGA? Daly has certainly been his own enemy for well publicized reasons during his career but he does seem to be playing more consistently and better at the ripe ole age of 46....I am aware of his gastric surgery but I doubt that is responsible for all of this performance improvement. Why so, and does he have a way back to his PGA card by money earned under the current format? |

I think the number to keep his card is closer to $864,000, or whatever was 125 last year. Not certain, but I seem to recall that as the target.

From the PGA's website.....
"Tour officials expect it will take as much as $775,000 to finish in the top 125 and keep full status for next year. " What this does not address is the question of whether you can be awarded a card in 2013 by finishing in the top 125 of money earners by playing a limited schedule without a full card in 2012 or whether money earned in Major's such as the British Open count toward the earnings number. The same can be asked about the Fed Ex Cup and Race for Dubai events Daly will likely qualify for as additional money streams toward earnings. The number to qualify for the first 125 is likely to be less this year as the "Tiger Effect" is corrected. That being the effect of Tiger's post fire hydrant earnings number decreasing substantially causing a redistribution of monies among players bumping the earnings of those in the field as a whole. That will not happen this year with Tiger winning at least three times. It's fairly rare for guys to earn their card through Q school, then lose it to nonperformance, then play better and get another year of exemption which is what may happen here if Daly has a July like his June with two strong performances.... I just have not read anywhere that if he earns enough to finish in the top 125. on a very limited playing schedule, that he would be given a full card for 2013 after losing his PGA card for several years. |

British Open money definitely counts. Also, it doesn't matter how limited the schedule is, if you make enough for the top 125, you get your card.

I would be surprised if Fed Ex Cup money at end of year doesn't count toward PGA earnings as well. He'll qualify for the first round of these "playoffs" easily. |

He's at it again this week 2 under for a round of 68 and will likely finish top 20 on day one of Greenbrier. |

The only Euro tour event that would count for him on the money list is The Open Championship.

I hope by his improving means he has finally stopped drinking and is getting his life back on track. I wish him the best. I have always liked him and hated to see such talent go to waste.
