How could the jockey not notice this and pull her up?

She was also next to Pharoah's Heart when that one acted up in the gate and was scratched, so possibly could have been injured then instead of from bleeding. I can't find any updates anywhere, hope she's OK, was coming back off a long layoff.
I haven't ridden a horse in about 60 years, so I wouldn't have a clue, except that I imagine a jockey might not notice in the heat of the moment, trying to avoid the myriad other things that can happen in a race and also I'm not sure how well a jockey can see the muzzle of the horse from their vantage point. I guess, it possible that the horse could have slammed into the gate too. I was noticing this weekend how difficult it is to tell what is happening from that head on shot that is shown on the split screen at the start. It seems to be shot from much further away than the side angle that they show at the start.

~~~~~ As I Do Ride My Horse
I can confirm at least for me in the saddle I would not be able to see her nose
…… Unless she turned her head all the way to the side then maybe
Also
I think the majority of jockeys have good intentions
regarding the well-being Of the horses they are riding
and would never intentionally do anything to harm them
~~~~ at least my Horse Lovin Heart would like to believe

……………. I WANT TO BELIEVE!

My Xpressbet account was looking pretty anemic, but now only down a few dollars.
The majority of us did lousy yesterday. Lots of upsets an very hard to put exactas and tris together let along anything else. Just one of those days. Nice going on your Xpressbet wager!!!

My admiration to those who backed Rated R Superstar in the Essex. The old guy has run a couple of amazing races at Oaklawn this year. I had included him underneath in one of my exacta combos, but thought that the Essex group was just too salty for him to have much of a chance of winning. Wrong again. Plainsman only ran a soso race and Warrior's Charge didn't show up at all. I wonder how long Rated R can hold his form. Gives hope to all of us old guys.

Didn't notice that in either of our contests. Hope it was somewhere where you had some real $$ on Rated R.

A person might play them one way when you are looking at them on paper, but another according to how the track is playing. When I saw how that horse came from the clouds to win the Whitmore, I decided to play a couple of the closers, Rated R and Beau Luminaire along with Warrior's Charge(not a closer) both over and under Plainsman. Also, didn't hurt that Rated R was the only horse, I think, in the field that had actually beaten Plainsman. Worked on Saturday, but who knows, I might have just gotten lucky. Whatever the case, I'll take it and not ask too many questions! Something else was that I can remember when Rated R's trainer, Villafranco, won another Graded Stakes with a horse I think that was even older than Rated R. The guy seems to have luck with the senior citizen set. Wish I knew the secret. I could use something like that.
