I doubt it, it started at 4:30am. I checked and only DirecTV has Universal Sports in my area. Guess I will have to live with the tape delays of the US matches on NBC or whomever is showing it.

Yeah, about to watch a replay of that one now.

Good day of World Cup action. Fiji smashed Namibia 49-25. Scotland only just avoided humiliation against Romania, 34-24. France beat a brave Japan 47-21. And England triumphed in a tough, low-scoring battle, 13-9.

But the opening ceremony is still the clear highlight of the tournament for me.
Some photos:

Made me proud to be an Aucklander.

Solid win by Ireland, but I thought USA put in a massive defensive effort. They deserved that late try.

The USA squandered some nice chances, but they played tough D, and did well.

Wales dominated their game, but missed penalties, and missed drop kicks cost them the game. Losing by one point hurts, but it looks like they showed they have come to New Zealand in top form.

Looking forward to the next set of games.

Haha. It was a good win, and they were very strong offensively. But they'll be a bit worried that they let Namibia score 25. They'll face much tougher teams than Namibia, so they need to tighten up their defence.

The only explanation I can think of is that Canada's amazing beards had a paralysing effect.

Those are pretty special beards, to be fair.

And yeah, looking forward to USA-Russia. A bit of history between the two nations...

You could say NZ had a comfortable win over Japan tonight - the score was 83-7.

Ok, so I just read all this and it looks like it is written in English, but I damn sure have no f*cking clue what it really says.

GREAT result for Ireland. And they earned it - what a massive performance. So happy for them and their fans.

So, we're up to the quarters.

Ireland v Wales
England v France
Australia v South Africa
Argentina v New Zealand

I got my ticket today for NZ-Argentina. I think we'll pummel the Pumas.
