Default Arlington jockeys sue Illinois owners, trainers

Are we attaching the stable to this lawsuit by running there?

Legally, that could be a problem.

It is against the Illinois horseman, not against shipping in a horse

Not sure about that, the article states that the suit includes all owners and trainers who have run a horse at Arlington since May 1.

When an owner becomes licensed to run in the state, that owner becomes a "horseman" in that state. "Horseman" refers to trainers and owners.

I'm not concerned about increase in jock fees, even if we'd have to pay a little more later on. But when I read the word "damages", well that piqued my interest....

says damages seeked are 3X the difference..... so... if they up the jock charges go up say $10 and your horse has run once this year, the damages seeked against you would only be $30 (plus the $10 extra since they want it backdated to the beginning of the meet).

As long as you run a horse there, you'd be included in this.

Exactly, and they will be getting a purse increase soon, probably around Million time when the focus is on them. Haber is gonna tell them to hook it up with some good PR

talked with an owner yesterday who agreed to $40 more for non-check rides in the future and has settled with Earlie and the Guild excusing himself from the suit. This apparantly was close to being settled and Frank Kirby has a lot to do with courts becoming involved. The jocks will end up getting a substantial raise. IMO
