Exclamation Monmouth Park has canceled all non-stakes races

There are six stakes races. Shall we skip today or score based on only six races? Personally, I would not mind canceling the contest today. Ruffian can pick the track for next Saturday. However, if there are more who vote to proceed with today's card that's fine.

While all of the remaining races are stakes, they have fields of 5,5,8,6,5,and 7 runners. That doesn't make for much of a contest. Further, there could be more defections as the afternoon continues.

I'll go with whatever decision the majority decides, but don't think a contest like this means much. We don't need a contest just for the sake of having a contest.

The CAT’S MEOW

With such a late cancellation
and players having ROI wagers that would involve the races that were canceled

I think we should cancel our contest for the day to be fair to everybody

Many players do not check back once the day begins
because they have other priorities with family and friends
and would never know those races were canceled
or that their wagers were invalid

In my opinion based upon how many other tracks cancel the entire day
I would’ve been happier if the track considered the horses well-being first
And postponed the entire card until tomorrow or next weekend but that’s just my heart speaking as a horse lover

Races 3,4,6,7,13,and 14 cancelled. All others have been postponed due to excessive heat. Eliminates this racing card for us but an excellent and bold decision in favor of the horses.

I wonder if anyone will still be there to watch the Haskell? Maybe they can cram 25000 people in the Sports Book.

Well, there would be time to run down to Monmouth Beach or Sea Bright, spend a few hours cooling off in the ocean, and still make it back in time for the delayed start of the Oceanport. But once you have done that, why not just stay at the shore and stay cool.

I wonder how many horsemen will decide that it is not worth sticking around for all that time. I suspect we will see some additional scratches.
