By the way, has the CHRB ever reached conclusion on the Wait a While positive from last year's Breeders' Cup?

Please ask if Tiago has been retired or not or what's wrong with him?

BTW... Barry you suggest that Hernando is a "one off" but you are bringing 3 others just like her..

It's really nice the Fallon loves the horse so much, maybe he will stiff him for the right money in the world cup

The Bill Belicheck of horse racing... Seriously he is Steve's friend he is suppose to say more then, we will do what is in Zenyatta's best interest..What is in her best interest in ship to Ky and eat sweet feed on a 500 acre blue grass estate paddock and never race again.. Give me a break,, while get Byk not wanting to piss Sherriffs off clearly he could have given a little.. HE GAVE ZENADDA

Steve can't throw him under the bus and that's understandable. The only thing I question is having him on in the first place. I mean really who gives a s.hit about these clowns? They are a disgrace to horse racing.

When Sheriffs suggests she is better physically , and mentally this year. Steve MUST ask the question, "then why have you decided on such an unambitious campaign"??.. Sherriffs tossed out that Zenyatta was a better animal at five so Steve IMO needed to follow thru with...Yo John have a heart you haven't given your superior mare the opportunity to defend your conviction.. Look I get that Steve is a friend and doesn't want to toss the Zenyatta clan under the bus BUT have a heart IF you are going to have him on and he is going to be given the forum to PRONOUNCE Zenyatta "all that" then he should be fair game to toss 1 fast ball down the middle of the plate?

Steve needed to say John what the heck would you be running in the Distaff for? Seriously in all candor why in the friggin world would Moss/sheriffs consider the distaff at this stage in this mares career.. Honestly the Distaff is certainly not an option and if it is then Sherriff's isn't calling the shots.. NO SANE person could elect to run her in the Distaff unless money was the motivating factor..

Mind you I love the mare...I think the Rachel v Zenyatta talk is complete nonsense..I also think That this mare deserved more then the apple blossom ONCE

Steve has to take the Larry King route. This industry is full of overly sensitive lemmings. If you hurt one of them then they are all gonna follow and jump off the ATR cliff. Then Steve will be left with broadcasting races.

Hmm. That sounds pretty good. Ok Steve let them have it.

Look Steve asks a lot of tough questions to others. I am a big fan of the show.. Sherriffs skated and so has his charge.. Look I get the dont piss off the guy part but in all candor Sherrifffs suggestted that Zennadda was a better 5 year old well then why has she not raced against faster horses?

i really think the world of the mare..How can the Distaff be an option? How can Sherriffs suggest that if the mare is healthy enough to racethat she won't go in the Classic.. I mean seriosly well enough for the Distaff but not ok run in the Classic.. Have a friggin heart.. She is 5, better then ever, and!!!

I'm sure if you had called in and said who you were they would have put you on the air to ask your questions.

You know I think the world of the show.. It is a tough spot for Steve BUT IMO if you are going to have Sherriffs on and he is going to sing his mares praises then he shouldn't be asked when they will make a decison. Asking Sherriffs what would preclude her from the Classic, save her not running because of injury, is a must!

You have voiced your logic 3/5 profile of Rachel's campaign for Pete's sake this guy gets to announce for the 3000ths time will do what is in the mare best interest after he tells us how wonderful she is as a five year old..

"She does everything better, she breaks better, she is mentally better, Yada , yada , yada.." Please John save it for the little girls with signs.
Again this isn't about Rachel vs. Zenyatta.. I don't have to knock Zenyatta because I like Rachel it's silly. While I appreciate that Sherriff's was gracious enough to come on the air, he certainly doesn't have an ounce of sportsmanship in his blood as you have decribed it. He has a once in a lifetime mare, talks about her as such, but fails to expose her to a signal once of competition. And then when the ultimate goal is weeks away fails to commit to even wanting her to race in the Classic. How about him saying Steve I will have her ready to go and IF the Moss's ask me were I want her to go my vote is in the Classic against the whomever shows up?

John Shirreffs was asked politely about her current performance level, the quality of her 2009 campaign and the positioning of her career accomplishments. He had the opportunity to be as forthcoming as he wanted to be about each of those aspects. It isn't necessary for me to challenge him or Moss in any more of a confrontational manner about their choices because I'm going to receive the same answers.

I think it's apparent that the undefeated portion of Zenyatta's career became a priority for all involved, and that may come to the detriment of her overall legacy long term. It's their choice as trainer/owner to place her as they see fit, and our choice as evaluators of racing history to judge the results. And in fact, Shirreffs acknowledged that.

So asking Sherriff's politely how at this stage in Zenyatta's career the Distaff could be in the mares best interest is challenging him? Well let's just say that isn't exactly a 60 minutes hard ball to the head Steve..
Now if for some reason you are protecting Sherriffs from his owners it might have been safer to leave him and his ball alone..

To show you why I feel so strongly that the show and your audience deserves more from Sherriff's I will detail how you asked a tough question just hours earlier to another guest..

I will need to paraphrase but.. You basically called Abrams and his ridiculous poly horse out onto the carpet when you suggested that the BC will have a bunch on Poly track freaks running in it instead of the mainstream dirt horses. You even suggested that there was damage being done the industry by horses such as HIS coming into town with SOFT credentials.. BTW this was an excellent question which intially floored Irwin. Irwin first suggests he has no clue what you are talking about and regatherings and suggests some BS about his horse being a special poly freak YADA YADA.. Hey you went there you put the thoughts of the industry in his face and he was CHALLENGED to respond.

Ma' nish ta nah?

BTW congrats on the excellent segment with Irwin you gave him polite hell and let him hang himself appropiately. He told you and the industry..Hey you put the BC on pro ride its my job to find horses that will run well on it..too friggin bad its my job...
